Healthy Aging, What is it?

Healthy aging seems to be the goal of every maturing adult today and for good reason.

The twenty first century is known as the generation of baby boomers. Baby boomers is the term used for people who are educated, net savvy, healthy and fit and living life to the maximum. Boomers believe in aging gracefully, staying active and living happily. Aging is an inevitable process which can be slowed down by maintaining good habits. Growing old is not a disease but a very natural condition of the human body. You can slow this process to an extent by taking multihormone dietary supplements and anti oxidants.

Baby boomers are quite conscious of their health and keep finding new ways of prolonging their youth. Growth hormone, healthy eating and exercise are some of the ways which they use to stay young. For them aging cannot be avoided but can be deterred to a large degree. For them plastic surgery, botox, tummy tucks are as normal as eating food. The population today has a long and healthy life span with most working past retirement.

Healthy aging is nothing tough; all it involves is eating healthy foods, regular exercising and avoiding toxic products such as tobacco. Baby boomers are quite regular in screening themselves for diseases such as cancer and all its forms, diabetes and its varied complications. They make sure to prevent diseases and conditions like depression, osteoporosis and urinary incontinence.

These days baby boomers are getting together to make people aware of their likes and dislikes and making sure that the market makes changes keeping their tastes in mind. There are retirement communities all across America which enables you to live life independently or assisted living in the same location and live in the facility for long term health care if required.

Aging people are now insisting on having a right to live and die the way they want. Net savvy, world travelers and very much a part of the society, they are not going to age without a fight. The fabulous 50s are taking care of themselves and increasing their life span. Now we have older population. Statistically speaking 100 years ago there were only three million people who crossed 65 and now there are a whooping 6 million people who are above 65. What’s more is that study predicts that this number will increase to over 70 million by 2030.

This aging population will have a lot of economic impact in the society in the coming years. More and more people will be using up Social Security benefits with an increasing demand in senior housing and medical programs. Prevention of injury and disease should be one of the most important goals of today’s adults.

The fact is that staying in the pink of health in youth can help in healthy aging later on in life.
